Why do I need to go to church? Can’t I just read my Bible and pray?

One of the great blessings, in a believer’s walk, is fellowship with other Christ followers. Satan knows this and he will do his best to keep you from enjoying the full richness of God’s blessings in your life. Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.” God’s desire is for us to build each other up and to share our experiences that we may grow from them.

The church is designed to be like a body. It needs all of its parts to function efficiently and effectively. “…so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us…” (Romans 12:5-6). You are a vital part of the body of Christ. God has a plan for you in fellowship with believers. Not only are you depriving yourself of some of God’s blessings if you avoid assembling with believers, but you also deprive others of what God has prepared you to offer to the body.
